First
game of the season for the newly formed Kempton 2’s, Kempton 2’s lost the
toss and were put into bat by Chipperfield Clarendon.
Kempton
2’s came out to bat with Fabian and Mo Sandhu opening the batting.
Kempton
made a slow start as one of their opening bowlers bowled well and a good line
and made it difficult for the opening pair.
Our
opening batsmen gradually started to score runs and with the odd boundary both
batsman settled and started to look comfortable with contributions from Fabian
and mo, scoring runs and taking the quick singles putting the opposition under
pressure, Mo Sandhu carried his form of batting from the day before and looked
more than comfortable with his flamboyant shots, The opening pair put on a
partnership of 50 runs when Fabian got caught in the covers for 25.
Mo
Sandhu had to take charge and bat responsibly with Mustafa coming in at 3
scoring a six of his first ball, he continued to attack the bowlers sending the
ball to the boundary. Eventually Mustafa got bowled to ball which pitched on
middle and hit the off stump for 30.
Kempton
lost another wicket and but new batsmen Bhavish (lil sachin) who looked fairly
impressive.
Mo
continued scoring runs hitting consecutive boundaries of the medium pacers, Mo
eventually started to take charge with 10 over’s remaining but eventually got
out hitting the ball to cow corner and was caught on the boundary for 61.
After
Mo had fallen hell broke loose as Kempton were losing wickets one after the
other, Kempton's total score had come to 178.
After
tea Kempton decided to open the bowling with Kenny Britto and Vishal Shah,
Kenny bowled well however later realized that the short bowl was not
doing any help as the wicket was favoring the batsmen.
Vishal
could not carry his form from Saturday to Sunday’s game as he was finding it
difficult bowling to the opening pair of the opposition who looked without any
doubt their Saturday 1’s players,
Chipperfield’s
opening pair played extremely well with flamboyant cover drives and late cuts.
Fabian tried all the bowlers available. However they were no match for the
opening batsmen until Javed our guest player took a wicket. Though that was not
good enough as their number three batsmen came into bat who looked in good nick
sending the ball out of the ground for 6 and 4 seeing his club to victory.
Chipperfield
cricket club had finished the game in 25 over’s with 9 wickets in hand.
As
for Kempton, a collapse which lead to defeat and the team felt they were
definitely 70 runs short of their total and 178 was not enough to see Kempton
2’s to their first victory.
