No mishaps this week in getting the team to the away game, with just one player arriving after the start of the game due to traffic delays en route.

Toss lost again and we were inserted with our openers Martin Sherwood 13 and Rukn Uddin 0 putting on 12 runs when Rukn was out. This brought in Luke Neville 128 Not Out who played a superb innings with all the other batsmen playing around him. Second wicket to fall was Martin with the score on 25 and the threat of a collapse a real possibility but for the excellent steadying of the ship by Dave Miah 23 who put on a partnership of 82 with Luke. With the departure of Dave, Dylan Richards 18 was next to the wicket, again putting on a valuable partnership of 50 taking us to 157 before he was out. Raj Selli 5 stayed briefly and 6 runs later we were 163 for 5.Aaron Campbell 12 replaced Raj pushing our total to 188 and with his dismissal Malcolm Smith 0 followed 1 run later. Already into the 45th over the skip 1 Not Out joined Luke at the wicket as we moved the score on to 209 for 7 after 47 overs. Extras 3 Byes,1 Leg bye,3 Wides and 2 No Balls. Batsmen not needed Charlie Welch and Matt Loveridge.

In reply Guildford decided to pack their top order with experienced batsmen, two of whom collected half centuries, including their skipper Phil Hodgson, as they set about the Kempton attack. Matt Loveridge 7-0-38-1 (a catch by Luke Neville with the score on 24) and Malcolm Smith 4-0-25-0 were soon replaced by Dylan Richards 15-1-55-1 (a catch by Matt Loveridge with the total on 175), Aaron Campbell 6-0-44-0 and a by then very tired Luke Neville 4-0-43-0. Guildford cantering to victory with 7 overs to spare ending on 212 for 3 in 36 overs, Extras 3 Byes,5 Leg Byes,9 Wides and 4 No Balls.

Positives from the match, good to get past 200 runs in the first League Game, excellent knock from Luke Neville who prospered from having old heads around him to guide him to a deserved big score, which I believe may make him Kempton's first centurion in the Surrey Championship 4th XI League. As usual excellent fielding by Luke Neville, Charlie Welch not having his best day behind the stumps, but that was more down to the bowlers finding big edges going just wide of him. The rest of the fielding good, the problem being the batsmen kept finding the gaps just beyond the reach of our fielders !
