We travelled the short distance to Twickenham to play a strong Twickenham club side who are obviously blessed with some fine players.

Having won the toss we batted first in a 40 over match. The wicket was very good for batting and Ellis Miah was soon into his stride, piercing the field and racing to 50 in the 11th over which included 12 boundaries. At the other end James Dart was less fluent but kept the scoreboard moving along at a tidy rate, the pair not being separated until Ellis was caught at slip for 74 with the score on 108 in the 18th over. Sachin Patel replaced Ellis and was soon into his stride with some clean hits through the leg side. James reached his second club half century but fell soon after for 51 and Tom Bovington out for 1 we were 154-3 off 27 overs. Sachin and Trevor Warne took the score to 195 before Sachin held out to mid on for 45. Allan Inwood and Trevor pressed on in the remaining overs taking the score to 263-4 off our 40 overs, Trevor 42no, Allan 37no including a huge six which carried the trees and landed in the church on the other side of the road.

With our hosts boasting a strong batting line up we knew that despite posting a good score we would have to make inroads into their order. Unfortunately an early tough chance was not taken and Twickenham opener McCabe then proceeded to give a master class in quality attacking batting as they raced along at 8 an over. He eventually holed out off Joel Miah who was the pick of the under pressure Kempton bowlers for 89 at 146-1 but there was no real let up in the tempo as the 2nd wicket partnership took the score to 243 before the remaining opener was caught behind off Trevor for 95. The remaining runs were soon knocked off as Twickenham reached their target in the 36th over to win by 8 wickets.

With 520+ runs scored for only 6 wickets it was certainly not a day to be a bowler with some fine batting on display from both sides.
